// workshops

IETF draft workshops

A workshop series led by Steven Mih on the IETF drafts he and Manu Gupta are collaborating on — verifiable agent actions, evidence, and settlement — with a focus on IPFS and libp2p. Every draft ships with test vectors and reference implementations, so sessions are hands-on: read the spec, run the vectors, poke the code.

How the series is structured: all seven are individual drafts, built on SCITT (RFC 9943) and COSE Receipts (RFC 9942). The workshop centers on draft 7 — Two-Party Settlement Records — with drafts 1, 3, and 6 underneath it as the foundation.

01

Agent Action Capsule profile for SCITT

workshop focus

draft-mih-scitt-agent-action-capsule-05

The base record of an agent action.

test vectors

Yes

implementations / notes

  • Implementations: Python, TypeScript, Go, Rust.
  • In use in the mesh-llm evidence plugin.
02

Canonicalization Declaration for SCITT Signed Statements (CPB)

draft-mih-sokolov-scitt-payload-binding-05

Declares exactly which bytes a signature covers.

test vectors

Yes

implementations / notes

  • A COSE WG version is coming shortly.
  • Used by the mesh-llm plugin.
03

Checkpointed Local Log (CLL)

workshop focus

draft-mih-scitt-checkpointed-local-log-01

Signed checkpoints over a local log, so records can't be silently rewritten.

test vectors

Yes (including MMR proofs)

implementations / notes

  • Implementations: Python, Go, TypeScript, Rust (on crates.io).
  • Every mesh-llm node checkpoints with it.
04

Bilateral Attestation of Cross-Organization Agent Actions

draft-mih-agent-bilateral-attestation-02

Each side signs its own half of an action between two organizations.

test vectors

—

implementations / notes

  • Each side signs its own half of an action.
  • The mesh-llm "two halves" of an exchange follow this pattern.
05

An Interaction Model for Requesting Verifiable Evidence

draft-mih-agent-evidence-request-00

How one party asks another for its evidence, and how a refusal or absence is recorded.

test vectors

—

implementations / notes

  • Used by mesh-llm nodes to fetch the other side's half of an exchange.
06

AAC Evidence Bundle

workshop focus

draft-mih-zhang-agent-disclosure-bundle-00

Packaging records, receipts, and checkpoints so a third party can verify them offline.

test vectors

—

implementations / notes

  • Next for the mesh-llm evidence export.
07

Two-Party Settlement Records for Agent Payments

workshop focus

draft-mih-agent-settlement-records-00

Payer and payee each seal what their own system observed (for terms, payment, and delivery), joined on the payment reference (x402 transaction, Lightning payment hash, AP2 ids, ISO 20022, and others).

test vectors

19 cases

implementations / notes

  • Status: posted today.
  • Reference runs: x402 on Base Sepolia, and a real Lightning paid exchange on mesh-llm where both sides recorded the same 1,000 msat sent, 995 received, 5 fee.
